DALLAS-August 1, 2019- Director Debi Lang is proud to announce her latest documentary film, titled PATHBREAKERS, has received the Award of Excellence in the Documentary Short category at the Impact DOCS Awards competition. Impact DOCS recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who contribute to profound social change. Documentaries were received from 30 countries, including veteran award winning filmmakers.

PATHBREAKERS showcases the efforts of a determined tech savvy woman who travels to Northern Uganda to fulfill a promise she made to village elders to help their disabled and visually impaired children. Her simple gift to a small school inspired a generation of young Ugandans to generate much needed social change and create economic opportunities for this once prosperous war-ravaged region. The film elegantly captures the moving personal stories of the students as well as the genesis of the Ugandan based NGO, Oysters & Pearls.
"Our team is honored that PATHBREAKERS has been recognized as a relevant film by our peers and are thrilled the film is resonating with audiences," said Lang.
The film has received 3 awards including Best Documentary Short at The African Film Festival.
Lang has previously been honored with numerous international awards including Best Director and Impact DOCS Humanitarian Award of Distinction for her films documenting humanitarian efforts around the world since 2007.
