DALLAS, TX (May 12, 2020) - Beginning Friday, May 15, the world will have a front-row seat for the award-winning documentary CORNERSTONE, as CARING FOR THE WORLD FILMS releases the highly anticipated film on YouTube.
CORNERSTONE chronicles the tragic, yet uplifting story of Twesigye Jackson Kaguri, who leaves Columbia University to return home to Uganda to care for his only brother, Frank, who is dying of AIDS. Kaguri discovers the disease that killed his brother and sister has also overwhelmed his entire home village. When he realizes no one is going to help them, Kaguri makes a decision that will forever change the course of his life and the lives of the people of the Enengo Valley in Western Uganda.
The film, directed and produced by Debi Lang, profiles Kaguri’s efforts to honor his brother's death wish, which triggered the creation of the Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project, a comprehensive, community-based organization that utilizes a unique holistic approach to not only combat illness, poverty and hunger, but to also educate children, create financial independence and empower girls and women.

“With the current global pandemic impacting so many, it is very important to offer the public a positive story that showcases the human spirit turning tragedy into hope during the darkest of days,” says Lang. “CORNERSTONE elegantly captures the Nyaka story, which has inspired audiences around the world and we are absolutely thrilled to make it available free of charge to everyone on Nyaka’s YouTube channel.” View the trailer here
Since its world premiere in 2016, CORNERSTONE has screened worldwide and received more than a dozen international awards and festival nominations, including Best Documentary, Best Cinematography and Best Humanitarian Film.
