The Premiere
Organizing a screening is no different from planning a fundraiser.  It is a no-brainer that the world premiere of the documentary is a major fundraiser for your organization.  Ticket sales fund the event.  Here are a few suggestions from previous profile organizations:
  • Begin planning as soon as partner with CFTWF.  It takes no less than 12 months minimum to plan a successful event.  Begin the search for an appropriate venue and begin the underwriter, sponsor search as soon as you can.
  • Choose a theatrical venue over a conference room or hotel banquet room.   Approval may take a while and may requires quite a lengthy security check,  so start asap to plan ahead. Have a back up just in case.
  • Have a good social media presence and PR advisor to assist you. Make sure the PR firm has a good track record and solid national/international press contacts in their rolodex.
  • Plan a 12-24 month screening fundraising circuit for the film following the premiere utilizing social media to promote them.

Film Festivals and Contests

We encourage your organization to enter the documentary into film festivals and contests around the world.  Why?  Film festivals and contests expose your organization to film and media industry insiders who otherwise never would know you exist.  Some contests offer prize money.   It also serves to inspire filmmakers to create media and increase awareness about efforts around the world as well as motivating them to further your cause.  Who knows, one day your story could be a major motion picture.  







To date, CFTWF documentaries have received dozens of awards and film festival invitations and one organization has received interest by movie industry insiders.  We are happy to provide a list and links to legitimate contests your organization can submit to.  There is no guarantee you will receive and invitation or an award.
