FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALLAS-February 20, 2017- Caring For The World Films (CFTWF) announced today Director Debi Lang has won the prestigious Award of Excellence from the IndieFest Film Awards.  The award was given for her latest documentary film CORNERSTONE, which profiles Twesigye Jackson Kaguri’s moving personal story and the inspiration for the creation of Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project.

“When we discovered the Nyaka story, we were shocked no one had produced a feature film about Jackson and his journey to save the AIDS orphans and grandmothers of his home village in Western Uganda.  AIDS had pretty much wiped out his generation.” said Lang. “With the help of the community, they together figured out realistic solutions to the crisis they faced.  CORNERSTONE elegantly captures the Nyaka story, which without a doubt, demonstrates Jackson's efforts are worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize."

The IndieFEST Film Awards recognizes film, television, videography and new media professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film and television industry.  Rick Prickett, who chairs The IndieFEST Film Awards, had this to say about the latest winners, “The IndieFEST is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world from powerhouse companies to remarkable new talent.”

Lang has been widely recognized for her global film work over the last decade. She has received over two-dozen international awards for her humanitarian films documenting efforts in Honduras, Belize and Nepal. She is currently in post-production on her latest film Pathbreakers  shot  in Northern Uganda, which is scheduled for release in late 2017.

Caring For The World Films Begins Post-Production On Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project Documentary

9/10/2015

PictureInterview with Nyaka student Anisha Akandinda

DALLAS/East Lansing, MI–(September 9, 2015)–-Caring For The World Films announces it is headed into post-production in a few weeks for their latest documentary profiling Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project just as the six-week location shoot wraps up in Uganda.

Director and Producer Debi Lang and her four-crew member team spent the summer in a remote region of western Uganda to document the compelling story of Nyaka founder Jackson Kaguri.  He created the organization to combat the devastation that the HIV/AIDS epidemic left behind in his village.  The team shot over a hundred hours of footage, which includes over seventy interviews.  “You just cannot imagine the economic destruction left in the wake of HIV/AIDS. This is lost to many people when formulating strategies to combat the disease,” says Lang.  “All of us on the crew were blown away by the reach and impact Nyaka has made on these two affected districts.

Lang is eager to begin post-production and she estimates it will be next summer before the film is completed.  The post-production team includes Cinder Cone Media founder and composer Howard Wulkan who will score the film and finishing editor and colorist Tim Werner.

Lang added, “Through our pro-bono documentary films, we hope to bring awareness to the exhaustive efforts of relatively unknown and successful non-profit humanitarian organizations such as the Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project.

An IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign is still active to raise funds for post-production. All funds collected after June 16th will be matched up to $1000. To donate please visit http://igg.me/at/NyakaDocumentary2016/x
